Who are we?

Elder Rights Australia (ERA) supports older people, their families and representatives in Victoria address issues related to Commonwealth funded aged care services. Our service is free, independent, and confidential.

We promote the rights of older people and ensure that that their voice is heard.

Our job is to provide information that empowers older people to make informed decisions about the care and services they receive and to stand beside them when they raise issues or concerns with aged care providers.

We are a founding member of the national Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), delivering the National Aged Care Advocacy Program (NACAP) and the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS).

All staff at ERA work remotely from home and come together for one-day meetings in Melbourne CBD approximately every six-eight weeks. Staff are set up with equipment in their homes that is OHS compliant. We take very seriously the health and wellbeing of our staff who told us they wished to work remotely post COVID restrictions. We can now service our clients more effectively as we draw our workforce from across Victoria.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an outstanding individual who encompasses our values to take on the role of HR Administration Officer. The HR Administration Officer will play a key role in supporting the HR Manager by managing day-to-day administrative processes and assisting with HR functions. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional with strong organisational skills and a passion for supporting people operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support HR processes, including onboarding, induction, offboarding, and employee lifecycle management.
  • Maintain and update employee records in HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist with recruitment tasks, such as job postings, shortlisting, pre-screening, interview scheduling, reference checking and communication with candidates.
  • Administer HR documents such as contracts, letters and onboarding documents.
  • Provide HR-related administrative support, including filing, reports, and correspondence.
  • Manage HR email inboxes.
  • Maintain accurate data management in relevant HR registers.
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for our Health and Wellbeing Committee.
  • Coordinate the preparation of our Health and Wellbeing newsletter.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives as needed.

ABOUT YOU

What we are looking for:

You will be a passionate, organised, and a driven person that wants to be part of an organisation that exists to give a voice to older people. It goes without saying you will have exceptional communication skills, have had previous experience in a HR Admin or similar role and you are a kind, caring and compassionate person.

Ideally you will have the following:

  • A minimum of (2) years’ experience in HR administration or similar role.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit, health, aged care, or human services sectors, desirable.
  • Hands-on experience using HR Information Systems (HRIS) for data entry and report generation, Employment Hero expereince advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing administrative tasks in an HR environment, such as maintaining employee records, preparing HR documents, and ensuring compliance with processes.
  • Practical experience in supporting the recruitment process, including job advertisement posting, interview scheduling, pre-employment checks, and onboarding processes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR policies and procedures, including recruitment, leave management, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Industrial Awards and the National Employment Standards.
  • Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong understanding of general office administration processes and their role in supporting HR functions efficiently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised as well as an effective team with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrated initiative in completing tasks with tight deadlines, successfully working remotely and flexibility to handle constantly changing priorities.
  • Sensitivity in working with a range of diverse cultures.
  • You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exemption certificate. Evidence of vaccination status will be required prior to commencement of role.
  • Hold a current Police check or willing to undergo a national police check.
