About Us
Elizabeth Morgan House Aboriginal Women’s Services Inc (EMH) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that has provided Specialist Family Violence services to Victorian Aboriginal women and their children since 1976. We offer culturally appropriate, trauma-informed services that empower Aboriginal women, children, and young people. Our work spans family violence response, crisis accommodation, justice services, and therapeutic support across Northern and Western Melbourne Metro.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Northern Outreach Team Leader to lead a team of specialist family violence case managers in Melbourne’s Northern metropolitan area. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal women and their children, ensuring they receive holistic support tailored to their needs. The position plays a key role in integrating services within the broader community services sector, including housing, mental health, disability, drug and alcohol and family services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist family violence case management.
- Identify strategic gaps and opportunities to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure services align with best practices, including trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally safe approaches.
- Develop and oversee case plans, risk assessments, and safety planning using the MARAM framework.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with sector agencies, government departments, and community organisations.
- Represent EMH in sector forums, committees, and networks.
- Manage risk and compliance in line with EMH's Risk Framework and OH&S policies.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and professional development opportunities for staff.
Key Selection Criteria
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in social work or a related field, in line with minimum qualifications for specialist family violence practitioners.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in family violence case management, crisis intervention, and advocacy for Aboriginal women and children.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of family violence dynamics, MARAM, FVISS, and CISS.
- Skills: Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously across locations.
- Cultural Competency: Knowledge of Aboriginal culture, history, and self-determination, with a strong commitment to culturally safe practices. Connection to Community is desirable.
Requirements

- National Police Check.
- Valid Victorian Driver’s License.
