Position Overview:

We are seeking our next Change Maker, Tradition Shaker, and Action Taker to join our team as a Residential Care Officer. As a Residential Care Officer at Enable Ability, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering high-quality support services to individuals with disabilities. You will be responsible for developing care plans, liaising with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to deliver tailored care plans that promote independence, inclusion, and overall well-being. You will be a hands-on, motivated leader looking for a dedicated team, committed to connecting with the person rather than focusing on the disability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement, and review individualized support plans tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each client.
  • Oversee and coordinate the delivery of support services, ensuring that all services provided meet the highest standards of quality and care.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate client needs, progress, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with clients, their families, and other professionals to ensure a holistic and integrated approach to care.
  • Monitor, address, escalate, and report on medication/health-related incidents and errors.
  • Communicate with Health Practitioners, and update staff and families of changes in participant health.
  • Provide monthly reports on Participant Health & Wellbeing and run timely MedSig reports.
  • Mentor and build confidence in direct support workers to develop the skills and understanding they need to improve their practice supporting participant’s health and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive client records and documentation, ensuring all information is up-to-date and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Build capacity in individuals to manage their own supports.
  • Ensure all services comply with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and developments in disability services to continuously improve service delivery.

Skills and Experience:

  • Allied health bachelor's degree is highly desirable but not compulsory.
  • Experience and knowledge of disability, mental health, and/or positive behaviour support.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the disability sector is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the NDIS and relevant disability legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions.
  • Good understanding of person-centred practice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to client care.
  • Valid NSW driver's license and reliable transport (if required for the role).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to undergo the check.
