Organisational Context

Ending Loneliness Together (ELT) is the peak body for loneliness in Australia. Loneliness is a growing concern in Australia, with 1 in 4 Australians reporting they are lonely. Loneliness is a crisis that we believe the sector and our members can solve. Our organisation is focused on evidence-based research, advocacy, policy, public awareness and action. Our work is informed by the experiences and expertise of our members and the interests of the individuals and communities across Australia affected by loneliness.

Position Purpose

A strategic, hands-on and multi-faceted role in which you will support the CEO by identifying, managing and fulfilling contracted deliverables within existing, and future, portfolio of corporate partners, government funders, philanthropic foundations, sponsors, and supporters. The role manages strategic partnerships with funders, sponsors and multiple cross-sector stakeholders, and members nationally.

Role Responsibilities

The Strategic Partnerships Lead works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Partnership Advisory Chair, Engagement and Operations Lead, and Management Committee, to engage current partners, potential partners, sponsors, and funders at a state and national level, in accordance with a strategy to ensure the growth of ELT as the leading voice on loneliness in Australia.

Strategic Partnerships Duties

  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with current philanthropic funders, advisory partners, project sponsors and relevant stakeholders to increase the relevance and impact of partnership activities;
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate and manage partnerships and foundations, including advisory partners, philanthropic funders, project sponsors and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. government)
  • Facilitate ongoing formalised partnership arrangements (contracts and MOUs) that help broaden reach to strengthen connections to the Australian community;
  • Maintain processes to collect activity data to report and evaluate all partnership activities, including developing and delivering reports on activity outcomes and future opportunities.
  • Work cohesively within a small team dynamic to support year-round ELT activity and ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and foundations, providing personalised engagement and recognition.
  • Ensuring delivery above and beyond funder/partner/sponsor expectations, including the delivery of all benefits agreed in formal contracts/MOUs;
  • Ensuring best practice in all external communications and representations;
  • Supporting the CEO to meet agreed deliverables by maintaining effective, collaborative partnerships and business development advice to secure new partners and expand existing relationships;
  • Representation at relevant stakeholder meetings and forums;
  • Other tasks as required from time to time.

Remuneration and conditions

  • Commencing February 1, 2025.
  • One-year fixed term contract with the possibility of renewal (subject to funding).
  • Flexible working arrangements (remote) – the team meets regularly face to face every quarter and interstate travel will be required.
  • The successful applicant will be asked to enter into an Employment Agreement.

Position Description Selection Criteria

The successful candidate would be expected to have considerable skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas.

Essential:

  • Experience with the corporate health and wellbeing sector; or Experience in or an understanding of the health, community and government sectors;
  • At least 5 years demonstrated success in new business development, relationship management and seeking, developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships, funding, and sponsorships;
  • Proven success and capability in corporate partnership management and relationship building, a people person, with particular emphasis on prospecting, securing and managing partnerships/sponsorships;
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and follow up on new partnership and philanthropic opportunities;
  • Commitment to high quality, strategic results and sound decision-making ability;
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, a natural communicator; with highly developed public speaking and presentation skills and confidence to present at public and corporate forums;
  • Sound financial acumen and experience in managing budgets;
  • Self-motivated, action-oriented with the ability to work independently and ability to work collaboratively with team with a reputation as a team player;
  • Willingness to travel and work outside of hours particularly at ELT peak periods;

Desirable:

  • An interest and passion for loneliness and related issues including social, mental and community health, or corporate wellbeing.
  • Existing extensive partnership networks within the corporate sector
  • Experience working in corporate, government, peak body or similar membership-based organisation.
