Senior Campaigner - Broome

Environs Kimberley

ABOUT ENVIRONS KIMBERLEY

For nearly thirty years, Environs Kimberley (EK) has led the effort to protect this extraordinary part of the world. Along the way we’ve secured a number of landmark campaign wins with our partners, including:

  • preventing the damming of mighty Martuwarra (Fitzroy River) to establish irrigated cotton
  • preventing efforts to industrialise this region, as with the campaign to save James Price Point from Woodside’s proposed gas plant
  • more than 300,000ha of new marine parks established across state and territory water

As the peak environmental NGO in the Kimberley, we’re dedicated to looking after the health of the land and waters of the region through community campaigns, advocacy and on-ground cultural and natural resource management projects.

Our vision is that the natural environment of the Kimberley is protected and well managed. Environmental and social sustainability are guiding principles to this vision.

We believe in the power of people to effect change. We recognise and strongly value the rights and interests of Traditional Owners, and Indigenous ecological knowledge. We value community based conservation, informed decision-making, best practice scientific research, collaboration and partnerships, and organisational independence and integrity.

EK is a family-friendly workplace, supporting our staff to have a healthy work-life balance.

As a community-based regional organisation, we work with other environment groups, First Nations groups and people and communities at a state, national and international level to build well-coordinated and effective campaigns.

THE ROLE

We’re seeking a passionate experienced campaigner to collaborate with a team and help lead, coordinate and deliver strategically on EK campaigns and related projects. The role's purpose is to advocate for change through our different campaigns aligned with Environs Kimberley’s goals and visions of protecting the Kimberley.

In this role, you will support regional communities to protect land, water and air from the oil and gas and other industries. You’ll be working with campaigners in Broome and across the Kimberley to achieve real action to stop the climate crisis.
