Our client Barwon Community Legal Service is a community legal centre that provides free legal information, advice, and casework to members of the local community, with a culture of supportiveness, positive change, integrity and empathy. They currently have a full-time or part-time opportunity for a Prevention & Community Engagement Officer.

This role requires a high level of attention to detail, commitment to social justice and an ability to produce content for a diverse range of publications.

What you will do:

The position will lead, coordinate and deliver projects and initiatives aimed at promoting, protecting and enhancing the rights and interests of people living in our region who are disadvantaged in their access to justice in conjunction with the Community Development Manager.

This role is responsible for:

• Lead the delivery of the Barwon Elder Abuse Primary Prevention Network program, convene working group meetings, and engage with local stakeholders to drive elder abuse prevention efforts.
• Support the development and implementation of community legal education, prevention programs, and outreach strategies to improve access to justice.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with key organisations, community groups, and networks to promote elder abuse prevention and community justice initiatives.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver activities, events, and initiatives, ensuring compliance with policies, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements.
• Prepare funding acquittals and reports, monitor and evaluate program impact, and contribute insights to policy and service improvements.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have qualifications and/or relevant experience in a comparable legal, education, community services or health field
• Have previous experience supporting community development projects or initiatives
• Hold a current driver’s licence
