EON Foundation provides a meaningful opportunity to change people’s lives. Our team is inspired by our vision of making a lasting contribution in remote Aboriginal communities. As a not-for-profit organisation, EON Foundation was created in 2005 and delivers the EON Thriving Communities Program, focused on improving nutrition through gardening and nutrition education as a basis for chronic disease prevention across Western Australia and the Northern Territory.
Are you an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who takes initiative? EON Foundation is excited to invite applications for the position of Project Manager working across three exciting community projects in the beautiful East Kimberley in Western Australia. If you are driven, proactive, and capable of working independently, we invite you to join our dynamic team.
As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering EON’s Thriving Communities Program. This involves planning, planting, and maintaining edible gardens, as well as providing practical lessons on gardening, cooking, and nutrition. With a special emphasis on delivering these classes to school children, the aim is to empower schools and communities to establish sustainable sources of fresh, healthy food and develop skills for maintaining gardens and promoting good nutrition.
Ideally, the successful candidate will be based in Wyndham, Kununurra, or nearby areas, with responsibilities spanning across Wyndham, Purnululu, and Warmun. This role entails maintaining a consistent presence in these communities, with a weekly rotation: one week in Wyndham, followed by a week in Purnululu and Warmun (usually 3 nights away during each stay).
In Wyndham, you'll be at the forefront of a new community program, implementing the comprehensive EON Thriving Communities initiative in close collaboration with the local school, Early Years, and Youth Centers.
At Purnululu, you'll spearhead another new community program, working within Frog Hollow school while also having the opportunity to develop a substantial community garden.
Warmun, having previously benefited from our program, has requested ongoing support from EON. Here, you'll play a vital role in revitalizing the existing garden and providing assistance to ensure its continued success within the community.
Our program involves close collaboration with remote Aboriginal communities and schools in both WA and NT, offering a unique opportunity for meaningful engagement with diverse cultures. If you have the capacity and willingness to travel to remote communities and are passionate about making a difference, this role offers a fulfilling experience beyond the excitement of exploring new places. Project Managers in our team dedicate significant time within the community to firmly establish the program and engage with community.
We are seeking individuals with existing knowledge or a strong willingness to learn about sustainable gardening practices. Your role will include establishing and maintaining community gardens and teaching community members how to grow edible food. If you have a passion for healthy cooking and are willing to share your knowledge, we want to hear from you.
Can you navigate complex situations in diverse Aboriginal communities in remote WA? The successful candidate will demonstrate sensitivity, adaptability, and a deep understanding of cultural diversity to engage respectfully with community members.
Flexibility and problem-solving skills are key attributes we seek in our Project Managers. Encounter various challenges where your ability to think on your feet and find innovative solutions will be critical to the program's success.
If you are passionate about community development, sustainable living, and making a positive impact, we invite you to submit your application. Click 'Apply Now' to submit your resume and a cover letter addressing your motivation, relevant experience, and approach to working in diverse environments. The successful applicant must hold or obtain a current manual driver's license, Working with Children Check, and National Police Check.
EON Foundation is committed to increasing the representation of Aboriginal people in our workforce. We strongly encourage First Nations People of Australia to apply, as over 50% of our employees identify as Aboriginal.
Thank you for considering the EON Thriving Communities Program. We look forward to welcoming individuals who share our commitment to community well-being and sustainable living.
