Community Development Coordinator - Newman

The Community Development Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of individualised wraparound support to approximately 45 clients (including children) that need assistance in transitioning to social housing in Newman. 

The level and type of support will be different for each individual and will change overtime, with initial focus on identifying housing needs, individual support requirements and re-engagement with existing services in Newman and elsewhere.

The opportunity

The service is intended to empower clients and work towards increasing clients’ independence and self determination. The coordinator will work effectively with Indigenous communities developing and managing wraparound support plans with families and individuals.

Selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications or extensive experience in community development, human services, social work or behavioural/social sciences.
  • Proven experience in community development, working with disadvantaged people, individual groups, families and communities.
  • Proven experience and skills in social needs analysis, social planning and service development, and to develop strategic responses to address identified needs.
  • Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to use practical negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative and motivation, with the ability to work independently, manage workloads, drive and empower team development and collective commitment.
  • Hold an unrestricted WA Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements to transport clients and able to drive off-road and travel across the Pilbara as required.5 weeks of annual leave.
