About the Opportunity:

The Program Assistant may be required to work across various sites in Victoria covering different programs. This position will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of programs and activities within our model of community engagement, participation and development. At times this may involve working independently with a group or as part of preparation for a program. These programs include Learning Support, On Track, City Justice Walks, Retreats and Recreation Groups.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting in the facilitation of the program activities, set up, pack down, management of equipment and food preparation if required for the program
  • Supporting in matching participants to suitable volunteer mentors
  • Supporting and supervising volunteers, participants and childcare minders
  • Supervising the arrival and departure of all participants on the program or at a program event
  • Ensuring the program plan is delivered and followed to achieve the aims and objectives

About You:

This position would suit someone who is wanting to build on their experience within the community sector. You will be highly involved in community work and are wanting to challenge yourself to learn new skills and serve a new purpose within the sector.

You will also have:

  • A Tertiary qualification or working toward a qualification in social work, community development, teaching, counselling, recreation, outdoor education or other relevant sector OR a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the Community Sector.
  • Well-developed communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • The ability to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
  • The ability to work flexibly and adaptively as a team player who can contribute to the harmonious operations of the organisation
  • An understanding of and commitment to the Child Safe Standards and Principles
