We would like to humbly acknowledge the Wulgurukaba, Bindal, and Juru peoples on whose land our school is located, or staff and young people live on and travel across daily.
Townsville Flexible School with campuses at Bowen and Burdekin is a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition. There are 25 Flexible School (FS) throughout Australia who offer a full-time and multiyear secondary education program for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling. Enrolled young people may express a broad range of complex education and social needs and FS respond with a variety of flexible and innovative teaching and learning practices including vocational planning and the development of social connectedness.
The purpose of a Flexible School is to provide young people with a varied and holistic set of learning experiences supporting them to identify and pursue an individual transition to adulthood, employment, further education and training and social connectedness.
The Townsville FS was established in 2006 to meet the needs of the local community. In 2019 the Burdekin and Bowen Educational Engagement Programs were established after many years of local consultation. These new programs are campuses of the Townsville FS and run programs for grades 7-10. We are expected to grow from one class group to several in the next few years.
Each Flexi School has a Head of Campus who has delegated responsibility from the Area Principal and Regional Director for the day-to-day management and leadership of the campus. The Head of Campus provides leadership and supervision to staff and the young people of the community, working collaboratively with the Area Principal, Regional Support Team members and other EREA Flexi Schools personnel as required.
We are seeking a Head of Campus to join our community with a start date of 20 January 2025.
