As an experience Finance Manager, you will have a passion for working in a values driven organisation. The Finance Manager role is responsible for the overall finance functions and implementing the strategy and direction, as provided by the Executive Manager, Corporate Services.

This is a hands-on position, responsibilities include financial monthly reporting, balance sheet reconciliation, budgeting and forecasting, liaison with auditors and managing a small finance team to deliver accurate and timely financial information and reporting.

The successful person will have a strong track record in financial management with an ability to make improvements to internal financial controls and processes.

The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards relevant to Not-for-Profit organisations. They will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a team and with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of financial reports, annual budget, forecasts, and acquittals.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly management reports, including profit and loss, balance sheets.
  • Monitor and manage end to end financial operations, ensuring data is accurate and compliant.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate with the external auditor for end of year reporting.
  • Provide leadership, management and guidance to finance staff.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and assess appropriate financial systems, procedures, internal controls, operational and regulatory risk to ensure adhere to financial best practice principles.
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Oversee compliance with financial governance in accordance with accounting standards, legislation, policy, and funding guidelines.
  • Oversee statutory obligations, including BAS, PAYG, FBT, and payroll, ensuring timely and accurate lodgement of tax returns and financial reports.

About You

  • Qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and present financial data, produce financial statements, and deliver performance reports.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring teams and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in financial systems, including Xero (preferred), and advanced Excel skills.
  • Commitment to ethical practices.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and accounting standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organisational skills to achieve objectives efficiently.
