ESTA is the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for police, fire, ambulance and VICSES.
The role of an ESTA Fire Call-taker is a critical one and no two days are the same! You will be responsible for receiving and processing 000 calls from the public whilst obtaining all the information required by Fire Rescue Victoria and the Country Fire Authority. You will absolutely make a meaningful difference in the life of Victorians every day. Being a people person is a must!
A day in the life of a Fire Call-taker consists of responding to calls for fire emergencies such as motor vehicle incidents and grass and property fires. Whilst there will be periods of down time, things change quickly so you need to remain alert and be self-motivated to utilise quiet periods to maintain your skills, keeping abreast of changes in policies, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
The role of a Fire Call-Taker is a unique opportunity, allowing flexibility and balance to meet your individual circumstances, work preferences and study requirements. Our current rosters rotate on a 4 on 4 off basis (2 days, 2 nights then 4 days off).
We are presently accepting applications for Fire Call-taker training courses commencing throughout May, June and July this year.
