Environment Victoria

Who is Environment Victoria?

Environment Victoria is building a movement of people across Victoria to create a just society living in harmony with a healthy environment.

We are one of Australia’s leading not-for-profit environment groups, with a history of running strategic, people-powered, campaigns that win just solutions to the biggest environmental problems of the day.

Our team of around 29 staff is nimble, creative and fun. We strive for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in our work and are committed to building, and supporting, a team of staff and volunteers that mirrors the rich diversity of the Victorian community in which we work.

About You

  • Formal education, qualifications, and extensive fundraising experience matter less to us than passion for Victoria’s environment, initiative, and drive.
  • While desirable that you have some fundraising experience, we are keen to hear from people who are passionate about solving the climate crisis.
  • A competent and engaging communicator you use the skills you’ve honed throughout your career to excite and engage people in genuine conversations about making positive change.
  • You are not afraid to hold challenging conversations, such as speaking to an ageing donor about including a gift in their Will to Environment Victoria.
  • In order to be successful in this role, you have to someone who thrives in planning and organisation. A well developed and well managed plan will see you thrive.
  • It would be desirable to have someone who has had some experience in the major giving space. If that person is you, then you will be sure to develop valuable experience that will propel your career beyond the 12-month term of this position.
  • You should be self-motivated and thrive in a collaborative environment. Working within a high performing team you will be expected to support your colleagues at busy points of the year and think about the broader impacts of your work across the fundraising program.

About the Role

This is a 12-month maternity leave position that is part time at 4 days per week. It is all about engaging people in genuine conversations about making positive change through their giving.

The most essential components of this role are planning and communication. Without a well developed and well managed plan, you cannot accurately manage your caseload of relationships. And without excellent communication skills, you will struggle to excite and persuade donors to give.

This strategically important role focuses on two key areas.

  1. Bridging the gap between our individual giving programs and our major gifts program. An important part of this work is all about identifying who in our database has the best linkage to our organisation, greatest ability to give more than they have before, and an interest in the cause, the work and in giving again.
  2. Building a significant future pipeline of income through Gifts in Wills. By promoting gifts in Wills and stewarding donors who have already included Environment Victoria in their Will, you will be delivering significant income for our efforts to protect the environment long into the future.

Other activities include some creative writing and design to support key periods of the year where you will be asking for donations, and also some event management.

This role gives the right person an opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Working within a high functioning and well-supported fundraising team that includes highly skilled writers, communicators and relationship managers.

The team is supported by a detailed annual plan of activity and a passionate group of campaigners, organisers and communicators across EV. You will not be short of inspiration!
