About us

Regional Programs and Regional Growth are the NSW Government’s eyes and ears on the ground for regional development and infrastructure delivery, providing multi-agency coordination, program and grant funding, community planning and coordination, and emergency response delivery.

The Program Evaluation and Monitoring team sits in Strategy and Evaluation, and oversees project monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for a large suite of programs delivered by the broader Regional Programs and Regional Growth teams. Sophisticated systems in contracting, compliance, evaluation and risk management ensure projects and programs are delivered efficiently to benefit regional communities. Since 2019, the team has overseen delivery of more than 900 projects across regional NSW.

The team works with the programs team in the Department of Regional to assist communities to recover from bushfires, floods, and other natural disasters. We do that by enabling communities to rebuild community infrastructure and supporting other activities that help those communities re-establish themselves in the face of significant devastation.

We work across non-metro NSW, enabling communities that traditionally don’t have all the facilities and resources found in cities to grow and diversify.

About the role

This role will support evaluation activity across a large portfolio of growth, recovery (bushfire, drought, COVID-19), youth, tourism and economic development funding programs being delivered across regional NSW.

The growth team also focuses on community resilience and betterment, particularly on projects that will support community development, and sustainability. These programs focus on making sure people with disabilities, and those who come from diverse backgrounds can thrive in regional, rural, and remote communities.

This position is hands-on, and you will work with a senior evaluation consultant to deliver quality program evaluations. Critical to the success of this role will be your ability to effectively work with program teams and external service providers to undertake program evaluation activities. Your role will coordinate project activities and support the delivery of quality information and data that enables continuous program improvement and informs future investment in funding programs for the Department.

About you

You are a highly motivated individual with a strong understanding of program delivery and the importance of evaluation. You have experience developing and implementing evaluation plans and activities as part of your role in delivering a program or as an evaluation specialist.

Stakeholder engagement is at the heart of all we do. You will have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and will be just as comfortable interviewing stakeholders as you are analysing sets of data, program documentation, and the results of stakeholder consultation to develop evaluation reports and advice.

You will be comfortable working as part of a small team and have the ability to work independently in a busy environment with competing priorities and projects whilst working with a range of stakeholders.

You will have relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent and/or relevant professional experience and training.

This opportunity for a temporary 2 years, full time role with the possibility of extension. We have flexible working conditions, and can work from anywhere in NSW. The role attracts a competitive full-time salary starting from $99,431pa + super and leave loading.
