The Victoria Law Foundation (VLF) was established in 1967 and is a statutory entity under the Victoria Law Foundation Act 2009. The VLF is a small and high functioning team, and we pride ourselves on our expertise, collaboration and meaningful work in research, education and grants to support better justice for all Victorians. Our functions are focussed on capability – supporting the justice sector to engage effectively with the community we serve, and to build public understanding and confidence in our legal system.
This role is to ensure the VLF optimise its impact in building legal capability and help improve access to justice. Reporting to the Executive Director, this newly created role is a key member of the VLF leadership team.
The Director will interpret and translate research findings for use across all VLF activity and help inform the thinking, service delivery and advocacy of diverse legal, community and education organisations. The successful candidate will ‘join the dots’, generate bright ideas and develop smart and rigorous content to connect effectively with stakeholders and decision makers.
This role is available full time or 0.8 FTE

The successful candidate will have extensive experience with stakeholder engagement and communications, preferably in government or community sector organisations, and engage confidently with different groups of people to develop to achieve outcomes. You will have demonstrated strength in understanding and accurately interpreting research for diverse audiences, and significant experience in thinking strategically (both analytically and creatively) in implementing strategic solutions.
This role will suit a person with superior people and issues management skills, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ideally, have previously represented an organisation in the public domain using research. You will have the ability to manage numerous projects and stakeholders at the one time, motivate and develop staff and enjoy working highly collaboratively.
