Program Officer - Technical - Australian Water Partnership

The Australian Water Partnership (AWP) is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and managed by the eWater Group. AWP is looking for a keen and organised self-starter with a water background to play a key junior role in the busy Technical Team. This team looks after AWP's technical planning, project conceptualisation and review, and our Gender, Disability and Social Inclusion work.  This role, being dependent on funding, is for a fixed term to 30 June 2026.

A key function of this position is to coordinate technical review of AWP's activities.The AWP is a cross-disciplinary team based in Canberra working to solve some of the big challenges in water and climate across our region. We are a busy, close team with ambition and drive, but we also appreciate chocolate brownies and time out of the office learning more about water. To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • A Bachelors degree in integrated water resource management or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrology and/or water resource management
  • 1-3 years experience in water management or in a project support/administration role
  • Good understanding of the way that technical interventions impact communities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a range of administrative computer applications (eg MS Office Suite), and ability to learn new systems quickly and with confidence;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, with a professional, approachable and friendly manner;
  • High levels of motivation, with ability to demonstrate initiative and work autonomously when required;
  • Be a strong team player
  • Be eligible to work in Australia

DESIRABLE

  • Interest and/or experience working in the international development sector and/or cross cultural situations
  • Knowledge of climate change and water policy and security issues in Australia and/or the IndoPacific region
