Fit to Drive is a leading road safety education provider for young people and their communities in Victoria. We deliver impactful programs in education and community settings around Victoria, having reached 140,000 young people since 2014.
Fit to Drive is the service provider for the Transport Accident Commission’s (TAC) new road safety pilot for young apprentices, Work Smart, Drive Smart (WSDS). The TAC is a Victorian Government owned organisation whose role is to promote road safety, support those who have been injured on our roads, and help them get their lives back on track.
Fit to Drive sends highly trained, passionate facilitators into trade education settings to empower and promote a safer road culture among young apprentices and their communities. Program facilitators don't tell, lecture or judge. The WSDS program is fun, positive, and structured, aiming to spark real conversations about the issues that really matter most to young apprentices on the roads.
Are you a Casual Relief Teachers (CRT), semi-retired trades-person, retired teacher, or student with relevant skills and flexible availability? This could be the job for you!
Trade Facilitators will be responsible for the on-the-ground instruction and delivery of the TAC’s new road safety pilot program for young apprentices, WSDS. We are looking for people who can relate to diverse audiences of young apprentices who use the roads to, from, and during work, and to engage them in conversations about strategies for dealing with risky and illegal situations they may face.
In the WSDS program, two (2) Trade Facilitators will lead a group of apprentices through scripted classroom-based learning activities followed by an outdoor practical component that puts this information into practice. This includes discussions of risky road behaviours and consequences and how to pack and restrain loads in vans, utes, and trailers. We provide training in facilitation and opportunities to extend your road safety knowledge. Experience in facilitating, teaching, or working closely with apprentices and tradespeople is essential.
Workshop staffing is completed in advance, so there will often be 2 - 4 weeks’ notice of shifts, and up to 5 shifts per week.
We welcome applications that demonstrate the following skills and criteria, whether that be in a professional or volunteer capacity, or through lived experience:
It is a requirement that after the interview process, the applicant will apply for a Driver History Report (5yrs) from VicRoads and forward to management.
