Who are you?

ARTD is looking for an experienced, Sydney-based Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander person with experience in public policy to support our work in the community and human services, justice and/or environmental sectors, with a focus on Aboriginal policy and program design and evaluation.

The role will suit someone with good stakeholder and engagement skills, emotional intelligence and experience in and a commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. You will have a demonstrated commitment to self-determination and working through collaborative approaches that empower Aboriginal people and communities to lead.

You will work closely with an Aboriginal Director and skilled teams in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Depending on your current skills and experience, you will be provided with the support required to develop your skills and practice and to manage a portfolio of clients and projects.

Key knowledge, competencies and experience

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants with a track record of working effectively with Aboriginal people and communities.
  • Understanding and experience in public policy in community and human services, justice and/or environmental.
  • Experience with stakeholder consultation and collaborative approaches.
  • Understanding and experience in program development and review or research on social and community policy and programs.
  • Good critical thinking, conceptual and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage a range of projects from simple to complex (to quality, time and budget).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good research skills or strong generalist data collection and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook including the ability to use or commitment to learn how to use MS Word and Excel and in-house templates.
  • Effective time management skills, juggling multiple tasks to competing deadlines.
  • Value working as part of a team, producing high quality work.

Qualifications

Qualifications or commensurate skills and professional experience.

Conditions

This is a permanent, full-time role located in our Sydney office, or it could be part time depending on your availability.

Your salary will be commensurate with your experience. We offer attractive conditions, including Christmas bonus leave, the opportunity to work flexibly (remotely and in alignment with your broader commitments) and a strong commitment to professional development. You will be eligible for a performance-linked bonus based on the achievement of the ARTD consultancy income targets.
