Family Support Worker - NSW
As a Family Support Worker, you will deliver therapeutic support and education programs as part of Family Drug Supports service provision to families and friends impacted by Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) use of others..
We are seeking a driven and empathic individual to help us increase our presence and deliver our services in NSW. The role requires working remotely with some ‘out of hours’ work and occasional regional travel required. Mobile & laptop provided.

Remuneration
The salary package includes Social Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award- level four, (Pay point dependent on demonstrated skills and experience & pro-rata where applicable) plus superannuation with an option to salary package. A mobile telephone, laptop computer and printer will be supplied for business purposes and a company car will also be provided for work use.

About The Role
FDS offers full-time (35 hour) and part time positions, working some weekends and week nights. This role requires a solid understanding of harm reduction principles, a strong commitment to non-directive practice and therapeutic capacity to support families.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualifications in Community Services, AOD/Mental Health or experience in a similar role
- Active listening and/or Motivational interviewing familiarity and capability to build rapport quickly with people
- High level of administration and reporting competency
- Understanding of and commitment to Harm Reduction and the FDS model
- Ability to deliver training, education, courses and workshops
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Willingness to commit to some evening/weekend work and regional travel
- Demonstrated experience in working with families
- Ability to meet targets and timelines for reporting
- Unencumbered drivers license
- A satisfactory National Police Check
desirable Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in the AOD, education, community services or human services sector (min 5 years)
- Counselling or support group experience
- Membership in relevant professional associations
- Lived experience is highly regarded
- Work with diverse communities
- Marketing or networking with professionals and relevant governing bodies
