ABOUT US

The Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations is the Victorian state-wide body that advocates for the rights and interests of Traditional Owners, while progressing social, economic, environmental, and cultural objectives. We support the progress of agreement-making and participation in decision-making, to enhance the authority of Traditional Owner Corporations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, some of your daily activities include:

  • Providing strategic advice and undertaking activities across a broad range of natural resource management matters.
  • Providing support on policy projects, briefing papers, policy submissions, implementation plans and other documentation.
  • Collaborating across the organisation to contribute to advice on a range of policy matters, inclu. natural resource management, economic development, corporate governance, First Nation's people's rights and emerging areas of interest.
  • Providing advice, support and research to Traditional Owner Corporations as they undertake initiatives that give effect to their Caring for Country strategies.
  • Liaising directly with Traditional Owners, government and other stakeholders to support the development of policy and program objectives including program design and implementation.
  • Identifying and contributing to funding opportunities to strengthen income generation for the organisation.

ABOUT YOU

As our Senior Advisor (NRM), you have experience with natural resource management, policy and strategy development, or land management planning. You have a great understanding of federal and local government legislation and programs relevant to natural resource management. You pride yourself on your ability to connect with people quickly, and can build successful relationships with a range of stakeholders.

You may have worked with Aboriginal Victorians before, and you have an understanding or a keen interest in a range of contemporary issues that affect Traditional Owners.

From time to time, you will be able to travel throughout regional Victoria to attend meetings with Traditional Owners.

Time worked on a weekend/outside of regular work hours can be accrued as time off in lieu (TOIL).
