Fighting Chance’s new accommodation enterprise puts people with disabilities and their families at the forefront of choice about how accommodation services are delivered. Set to expand rapidly over the next few years, our innovative model of supported independent living focuses on a person-centred, family governance model. At the core of this is the Family Governance Committee who collaborate with their team to ensure that true choice and control are prioritised for all housemates.

The Role:

The Support Worker is a critical role, working at Kings Cottage (Hornsby) to enable and empower two males in their thirties to live independent and fulfilling lives. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting the housemates in their home and in the community, supporting them to attend social events and appointments. Familiarity with personal care is essential and an Active Support approach to care is favourable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering personalised support in the home and out in the community based on the needs and interest of the housemates
  • Assisting housemates to create healthy meals, with personal care and administering medications
  • Support housemates to engage and participate in the community and assist with medical appointments
  • Enter case notes into the Client Management System

What we are looking for:

  • Experienced, professional with a positive and passionate approach to providing the highest level of support
  • Be energetic, ambitious, and seeking to learn and grow in the role
  • A commitment to providing responsive, person-centred, and considerate care
  • Flexible and adaptive communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Requirement:

  • Flexibility to work morning, evening, weekends and sleepovers
  • Possess or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR (HLTAID003) Certificates
  • Fully Covid Vaccination including Booster
  • Full NSW Driver's Licence & a reliable vehicle
  • Rights to work in Australia
  • Experience with Behaviour Management - desirable but not essential
