ABOUT YOU

We are looking for two friendly, passionate and organised Retail Assistants to run the day-to-day operations of our not-for-profit store as we recover from the rollercoaster ride of the last few years, and rebuild our business for good with and for our community.

This role reports to the Shop Manager and is responsible for:

• Supervising teams of volunteers to run the shop,
• Assisting with shop operations (including ordering, merchandising and rotating stock),
• Assisting with volunteer management (including recruiting, training and rostering),
• Engaging the community (including marketing and communications), and
• Complying with health and safety, food safety and other regulations

As one of three permanent staff, you will be key to providing a friendly, ethical place to shop and ensuring it remains financially viable, in order to build a connected and thriving community where people’s purchases and actions make the world a better place.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• Team leadership / supervision experience, preferably in retail
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Very good problem solving skills
• Very good written and verbal communication skills
• Very good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and consultatively
• Ability to work safely and responsibly
• Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands under pressure
• Good computer literacy including use of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Commitment to the mission, aims, and values of Flame Tree Community Food Co-op

KEY DETAILS

Hours per week: negotiable (to be job shared between two people, between 14 and 38 hours each, covering opening hours Monday to Saturday)

Hourly rate: from $24.76 + superannuation (Level 4, General Retail Industry Award)
