The Opportunity

The Family Connections Children’s Contact Service (CCS) Worker is a part time/permanent role based across locations in the outer South East of Melbourne (such as Sandringham; Frankston and other locations) and provides trauma informed, evidence-based support to separated families who are engaged in high level conflict to effectively manage their parenting arrangements and understand the impact of conflict on their children.

The CCS Worker’s key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting enhanced supervised visits with children and their families.
  • Provide ongoing service provision with separated families in terms of their court directed orders.
  • Ensure that the needs and safety of the families takes priority at all times.
  • Conduct on-going risk assessments, and develop safety plans where appropriate.
  • Foster positive relationships with the children, families and relevant program Stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional documentation and administrative systems according to program and legislative requirements, including CCS observational reports.

The CCS Worker delivers services to quality standards, complying with relevant legislation and contractual requirements. They will liaise with internal/external stakeholders pertaining to referral intakes and ongoing work with families.

The CCS Worker remains abreast of professional trends and literature relevant to family transitions, and service intervention and support strategies. They will meet KPI’s for research, evaluation data and surveys.

The CCS Worker will comply with the organisation’s Program Planning and Evaluation Framework. They also assist with the promotion and delivery of programs as required. The CCS worker will support flexible, ongoing care for clients in the context of the COVID - 19 pandemic by utilising the Family Life COVID - 19 Practice Framework.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has Bachelor qualifications in Social Work, Family Therapy, Psychology or similar Human Services qualifications.
  • Is eligible for membership of AASW, AAFT, APS or PACFA member associations.
  • Has demonstrated experience with separation, family law, mental health, sexual abuse, alcohol and other drugs and family violence issues.
  • Has demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team to provide a high level of performance and innovation.
  • Has experience in undertaking assessments, and working effectively with parents and children who have experienced high levels of conflict.
  • Has experience supporting the developmental and therapeutic needs of children who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.
  • Is able to respond to challenging behaviours, and have an understanding of the origins of these behaviours when working with children including trauma and attachment.
  • Has strong conflict resolution skills, and experience applying Systems Theory.
  • Has demonstrated organisational and administration skills, including report writing and the ability to manage and prioritise their workload in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Has information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite, online video platforms and client management systems.
  • Has flexibility to work across our CCS service locations, and be available for regular weekend shifts as per the roster.
