Are you passionate about advocating for workers' rights and ensuring fair employment practices? We're seeking a dedicated Employment & Industrial Lawyer to join our legal team in Perth, Western Australia.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Employment & Industrial Lawyer, you will advocate for trade unions and their members and individual employees. Your responsibilities will include providing high-quality legal advice on employment laws, industrial relations, workplace regulations, trade union governance, and human rights law in an employment context. You'll represent clients in negotiations, disputes, and litigation cases, striving to secure favourable outcomes and uphold workers' rights. The role includes advocacy work before the WAIRC, the FWC, and the Industrial Magistrates Court.

Please note, this role is an office-based role working as part of a small team (3-4 people).

REQUIREMENTS

  • Admitted as a lawyer in Western Australia with a solid understanding of state and federal employment laws.
  • Proven experience in representing trade unions, members, or employees in employment and industrial cases.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy abilities, with a track record of achieving successful outcomes.
  • Commitment to social justice, fairness, and the well-being of workers.
  • 1-2 years post-admission experience (or equivalent experience working in a trade union before admission as a lawyer).
  • Entitled to work in Australia (either as a resident or citizen).
  • Clear criminal record check.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

  • Friendly hours (generally 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday).
  • One paid RDO per month.
