THE ROLE – Philanthropy Manager

Reporting to the Head of Community and Engagement and as a key member of Relationships Team, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating and maintaining long-term, meaningful partnerships with major individual donors and philanthropic institutions across NSW, QLD, and ACT.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will design and implement innovative, high-impact fundraising strategies to secure significant philanthropic gifts while deepening donor engagement. Collaborating closely with senior stakeholders, you will drive connections that inspire ongoing support and investment in the organisation’s mission.

This hands-on role places you at the forefront of donor relations, where you will drive and grow your portfolio. Your responsibilities will span major gift stewardship, proactive pipeline development, strategic prospect research, high-level donor engagement events, and securing transformational gifts. Additionally, you will create insightful reports that inform strategy and strengthen donor relationships.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify, strengthen and develop high-value philanthropic relationships across your geographical region.
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders to deepen donor connections and secure major gifts.
  • Collaborate with the wider fundraising and communications teams to:
  • Craft and execute tailored donor communication strategies that ensure supporters feel valued
  • Create compelling proposals and collateral inspire donor contributions
  • Plan and deliver impactful donor events that highlight the impact of their gifts.

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of climate and environmental issues, with a commitment to driving positive change.
  • Proven success in a professional relationship fundraising role, with expertise in major gifts, philanthropy or similar.
  • Strategic, organised, and persistent in managing donor pipelines.
  • Enthusiastic advocate for best practice fundraising methodologies.
  • Proficient in CRM systems, leveraging data-driven insights to maintain accurate donor records, track engagement, and optimise reporting.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships across various channels, including face-to-face meetings, phone and video calls, and group donor interactions.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing fundraising culture.
  • Willing to travel across your region and interstate occasionally to meet donors, engage stakeholders, and represent the organisation at key events.
