FORE Australia is a non-partisan, youth-led social enterprise dedicated to bridging the gap between innovative ideas and effective policy implementation. Our mission is to ensure that no solution remains sidelined simply because it goes unnoticed or misunderstood. We collaborate with politicians, advisors, academics, activists, NGOs, and communities to fuel our flagship project, the Solutions Library. This platform offers well-researched, practical policy ideas designed to be easily accessible to both decision-makers and the general public.

In addition to our library, we provide targeted training for NGOs, academics, and others on political and legislative machinery alongside policy communication training. Our aim is to empower these stakeholders to convey their ideas clearly and persuasively, ensuring their voices are heard in policy discussions. By translating complex research and advocacy into actionable policies, we equip stakeholders with the knowledge to make the most of each policy window.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The start date for this role is the Monday the 4th of November, this will be a full training day for executives. Please let us know if you are unable to make it to this training day and we can try and accommodate your schedule. 

FORE Australia is seeking a strategic and passionate Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our organisation, ensuring that our initiatives align with our mission of bridging the gap between innovative solutions and effective policy implementation. As COO, you will manage the Solutions Library, overseeing its development, maintenance, and continuous improvement to ensure it remains a vital resource for decision-makers and the general public.

Your leadership will encompass the management of operational processes, our policy specialist team, and strategic planning to drive our mission forward. You will play a key role in fostering a collaborative culture within the organisation, ensuring that our diverse team is aligned in their efforts to promote public engagement in policy-making.

This role offers flexible working hours to support work-life balance, and although it is currently a volunteer position, we are actively seeking funding to transition it to a paid role within the next 12 months.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of writers and copy editors to ensure a cohesive vision and approach is taken to the Solutions Library
  • Be mindful of the user experience in both the training program and the Solutions Library, watching out for areas of improvement
  • Build a culture which supports professional growth, collaboration and feedback to achieve the highest possible standards of operation and publishing excellence
  • Develop metrics to assess the impact and effectiveness of the Solutions Library and report areas for improvement back to the executive team
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for users of the Solutions Library head and leaders addressing their needs and feedback or escalating to the CEO where appropriate
  • Oversee the creation of training programs and materials, making sure they meet standards of relevance, effectiveness, and appropriateness

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced and strategic leader who is passionate about social justice and committed to driving impactful change. You possess a strong understanding of policy development and implementation processes, alongside proven experience in operational management. Your excellent organisational and project management skills enable you to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously, ensuring alignment with our mission and strategic goals.

As a collaborative and inclusive leader, you thrive in diverse team environments, fostering a culture of engagement and support. You are adaptable and proactive, with the ability to identify growth opportunities and drive innovative solutions. Your exceptional interpersonal skills allow you to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including team members, policy experts, and decision-makers.

While specific years of experience are not required, we value candidates who are eager to learn and are comfortable with tools such as Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms), project management software, and content management systems. Whether you bring extensive experience or are ready to grow your career in the social enterprise sector, your enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference will be key to your success in this role.
