Remote / Work from Home
This opportunity is virtual; thus you can apply and learn from anywhere in Australia!
FORE Australia is a non-partisan, youth-led social enterprise dedicated to bridging the gap between innovative ideas and effective policy implementation. Our mission is to ensure that no solution remains sidelined simply because it goes unnoticed or misunderstood. We collaborate with politicians, advisors, academics, activists, NGOs, and communities to fuel our flagship project, the Solutions Library. This platform offers well-researched, practical policy ideas designed to be easily accessible to both decision-makers and the general public.
In addition to our library, we provide targeted training for NGOs, academics, and others on political and legislative machinery alongside policy communication training. Our aim is to empower these stakeholders to convey their ideas clearly and persuasively, ensuring their voices are heard in policy discussions. By translating complex research and advocacy into actionable policies, we try to equip stakeholders with the knowledge to make the most of each policy window.
We are excited to invite passionate and driven individuals to join FORE Australia as Summer interns. Our 2-month internship program offers a variety of specialisations, allowing you to focus on areas that best match your interests and skills. You will participate in learning webinars, group discussions, workshops and collaborative sessions with the organisers and other interns to support you throughout the duration of your internship. This internship will give you the chance to translate your passions and skills into real action, making a contribution to the movement that transforms how policies are communicated and adopted. Please read through the descriptions of the three streams we offer to decide which is the best fit for you. Each has their own unique skill set, syllabus and goals.
1. Solutions Library Reporter: As a solutions library reporter you will be mentored on how to research and write policy briefs that will be published and submitted on our website and social media. We will train you in advanced policy communication and give you guides, tools and templates to work with during the program.
You will also gain experience meeting with academics and stakeholders who are experts in the areas you are writing in. We will coach you in professional communication, honing your skillset in stakeholder outreach, a valuable lesson in whatever career you aspire towards.
2. Marketing and Social Media: As part of the marketing team you will have creative input into the brand and presentation of FORE Australia on our social media and beyond. This can involve: creating content for a range of platforms (including Instagram and LinkedIn), graphic design, website edits, newsletter writing and producing our upcoming podcast among other roles. We're looking for team members who are interested in communicating in fun, engaging and forward-thinking ways, enhancing our visibility and engagement with the public. To achieve this you will be guided by the organising team through workshops, personalised mentoring and discussions to assist you in your work.
3. Finance team (grants/sponsorship/sales): As a member of the finance team you will be trained by our Chief Financial Officer who will mentor you to gain experience in grant writing, sales and/or sponsorships. Once trained, you will have the opportunity to connect with high profile stakeholders and sponsors as a representative of FORE Australia, directly contributing to our financial sustainability and success. The opportunity to add financial literacy and communication to your skillset will be an invaluable asset to contribute to your present and future career endeavours.
We are looking for proactive, enthusiastic individuals who are eager to learn and make an impact. You should be passionate about social justice, policy development, and effective communication. While no specific years of experience are required, we value candidates who can demonstrate a strong commitment to our mission and a willingness to engage with diverse stakeholders. Ideal candidates will have excellent research and writing skills, a keen interest in social media and digital communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Whether you’re a university student looking to gain practical experience or a recent graduate eager to kickstart your career in the social enterprise sector, we welcome your application.
At FORE Australia, we understand the importance of a supportive and flexible work environment. Our internships offer the opportunity to work remotely, providing you with the flexibility to balance your commitments. We also offer professional development opportunities, including training sessions and mentorship from experienced professionals in the field. As an intern, you will have access to a broad network of policy experts, NGOs, and government officials, helping you to build valuable connections for your future career. Join us and gain hands-on experience in a rapidly growing organisation dedicated to creating positive social change.
Applications for this role will take you to the employer’s site.
