Forensicare (the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health) is the leading provider of forensic mental health services across Victoria. We deliver recovery-focused programs to consumers with serious mental illnesses across the Victorian justice system, mental health sector, and the community--from early intervention and prevention, to inpatient care, rehabilitation, and community transition support.
We also work in partnership with Swinburne University of Technology through the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science to deliver a forensic mental health research program, specialist training, and ongoing professional education.
The Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science (CFBS), where this position is based, was established to improve the quality of patient care and is an integral component of Forensicare services.
CFBS brings together academics, clinicians, researchers and students from multiple disciplines which enables CFBS to provide a stimulating and rewarding environment that provides a core capacity of academic and clinical excellence in forensic mental health research and practice.
The Research Manager contributes significantly to the profile of Forensicare by providing high level support and coordination of Forensicare’s research activities. The successful applicant will provide a range of duties from assisting staff to develop research projects, to coordinating the organisation's research activities and carrying our research within Forensicare. The position will develop key stakeholder relationships, identifying potential research funding streams and oversee the organisation's research activities.
The Research Manager will promote Forensicare’s research consultation capabilities and identify and assist in securing research opportunities and sources of research funding. The role will also support and encourage staff members to actively participate in research activities.
You hold a PhD or other doctoral level research degree with a proven track record of conducting and overseeing clinical research in forensic mental health or related areas.
You have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate scientific/academic concepts to a broad range of people, and can work independently under general supervision and to plan strategically.
You are a self-motivated person able to take significant responsibility for achieving agreed outcomes and have the ability to identify project opportunities through interactions with a range of agencies including government and industry.
