About Spinifex Hill Studio

Spinifex Hill Studio, located in South Hedland, is managed by FORM, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to fostering creativity and cultural empowerment for Aboriginal artists in Western Australia. Supporting over 100 artists from diverse language groups, our studio is a vibrant hub of artistic expression and community engagement. FORM is committed to cultural awareness, self-determination, and Aboriginal leadership.

The Role

As the Gallery Engagement Officer, you’ll be responsible for delivering engaging programs, exhibitions, and community activations at the Spinifex Hill Studio and Gallery. You will support the design, implementation, and evaluation of cultural and community-driven events that increase visibility, drive revenue, and foster meaningful relationships with local stakeholders. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within the dynamic creative sector of the Pilbara, connecting with the local community and supporting the empowerment of Aboriginal artists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, promote, and deliver programs and events that engage the local community and showcase Spinifex Hill’s cultural offerings
  • Collaborate with artists and partners to drive visitation, revenue, and gallery engagement
  • Assist with the coordination and presentation of exhibitions, including artwork cataloguing, handling, and sales
  • Cultivate positive visitor experiences to grow audience engagement and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Support community engagement activities and contribute to marketing efforts, including social media and promotional content
  • Assist in reporting, fundraising activities, and program evaluations to measure impact

Key Criteria

  • Event delivery skills
  • Proven ability to engage diverse community groups and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of community engagement and arts programming best practices
  • Excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills
  • Awareness of cultural protocols and respectful cross-cultural communication

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience in arts administration or program delivery, preferably working with Aboriginal artists
  • Experience working in small teams and cross-cultural settings
  • Tertiary qualification in arts administration or related discipline (desirable)
  • Current Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, and C Class driver’s license

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

5 days serenity leave per annum (on top of standard leave entitlements)

$1,000 per annum training and development allocation (standard for all employees)
