A wide range of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is represented in the student body. ABOUT THE ROLE

The successful applicant will be required to work for a total of 30hrs from Monday to Friday. Applications close on Friday 15th March 4.00pm. Employment to commence on Monday 15th April until Friday 19th December 2025

Community Hub Leader will coordinate development of a Community Hub embedded at Fountain Gate Primary School to engage migrant and refugee families in all aspects of school and community life.

In partnership with the local community coordinate the development of the Community Hub, consisting of:

  • Engaging and working collaboratively with families and community members, agency and service providers to facilitate participation in a range of activities that build family confidence, skills and knowledge of child development and parenting
  • Working with school school/community agency staff to ensure a welcoming environment for parents at the Community Hub
  • Attending and participating in Hub Leader networking and learning and development meetings
  • Liaising with the support agency staff to share and review resources and information
  • Interacting positively with all parents, children, colleagues and community members
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with community members, services, funding agencies and local Early Years networks
  • Leading collaborative planning by the local community partnership group to respond effectively to the needs of families

  • Community members and services are engaged and participate in the Community Hub at Fountain Gate Primary School
  • The Community Hub partnership will have a clear outcomes-based work plan
  • The Community Hub partnership will reflect the program philosophy

Family Liaison

  • Be a point of contact to assist families
  • Support parents to participate in hub, school and community activities
  • Link parents to information, programs and services and assist with referrals as required
  • Advocate for families

Coordinate Activities

  • Organise activities, programs, or events in response to identified needs, interests and program outcomes
  • Promote Early Years Hub and broader community activities

Collaborate with School-based staff and external agencies to deliver co-located and coordinated services

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountability

  • Develop and maintain an annual work plan in line with the contractual obligations and program outcomes
  • Manage the budget and fulfil reporting accountabilities

Leadership and Management

  • Lead, motivate and coordinate a cohesive approach to the achievement of the local outcomes of the Community Hub partnership
  • Create opportunities to develop programs the build the capacity of parents/carers and families to participate in the development and life of the Community Hub and general community
  • Coordinate Community Hub activities and processes including supporting the establishment and facilitation of the local community partnership group
  • Assist with the documentation for the Community Hub; agendas, minutes, schedules, data collection, developing brochures, writing articles, newsletters and reports
  • Manage the partnership agreement/s between the lead agency and local community services/groups

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Demonstrated experience and capacity to work within a culturally diverse community.
  2. Knowledge of Community Development principles and techniques.
  3. Ability to gain the support and assistance of parents, other stake holders, community agencies, early years’ service networks and staff in developing a Community Hub.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, including well-developed planning, time management and organisational skills.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with people and families from diverse backgrounds, especially culturally and linguistically diverse families.
  6. Well-developed oral communication skills, as well as sound written and report writing and ICT skills

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

FACILITIES

At present the buildings consist of a main administration/staff/library core, fourteen permanent classrooms, two galleries (four classrooms surrounding a central learning area) and six portables. The school has a full size gymnasium. The school is proud to run a very active Community Hub that promotes partnerships both within and the broader community. The grounds are large, attractive and well maintained.

GROUNDS

The school grounds include a wide variety of playground facilities. We have a large oval, a soccer pitch, two basketball courts, and large shaded play areas for both active and passive play. The school takes pride in our grounds and takes great care to ensure gardens and playing spaces are well maintained. The school is fortunate to have an open grassed public area available at the back of the school which is used for supervised events such as cross country and lunchtime sports programs.

ENROLMENTS/STAFF

The school population comprises of 484 students. Our workforce consists of 2.0 Principal class, 2.0 Leading Teachers, 2.0 Learning Specialist, 26.46 Teaching staff, 6.51 Integration staff, 3.0 Office staff, 2.36 Tutors (TLI), 1.0 ICT support, 2.0 Buildings and Grounds, 0.8 Community Hub Leader, 0.8 First Aid officer, 0.51 Canteen Manager, 0.8 Social Worker, 0.4 Attendance Officer, 1.0 Library Support. The students are organised in year level classes, with composite classes where necessary.

CURRICULUM AND PROGRAMS

Literacy, Numeracy, and student wellbeing skills are given a high priority. We also place importance on the nurturing of cultural, social, creative, physical and personal development of all members of our school community. All areas of the school have access to up-to-date computer technology with internet access. Specialist areas include Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts/Drama and STEM.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parent involvement is highly valued at Fountain Gate Primary School. We have a commitment to a strong home-school partnership and welcome parent involvement in school activities. Fundraising activities focus on building social interactions with parents. Parents are invited to attend our fortnightly Friday afternoon assemblies and many special events throughout the year. Parents are very active on School Council.
