FPAA is the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Australian country member. Through this network we are connected internationally with organisations of like mind to further sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.

The Role

Reporting to the FPAA CEO, the AUSLARC Project Officer is responsible for leading FPAA’s national AUSLARC Project, a collaboration with all eight Australian states and territory family planning organisations and RACGP.

The AUSLARC project is a 2.5-year national project funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care that aims to deliver Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) training scholarships for health professionals.

The AUSLARC Project Officer will lead this activity by utilising FPAA’s network of family planning organisations to promote and administer scholarships, coordinate and deliver the LARC training programs and support the evaluation of the project.

The AUSLARC project team will lead three project phases: co-design, implementation and evaluation. The project team will include communications and marketing, evaluation and key working groups with internal and external representatives.

The AUSLARC Project Officer will support the collaboration and coordination of key stakeholders and members of the project team embedded within state and territory family planning organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute and/or prepare quality reports, briefing papers and correspondence
  • Monitor project timeline and update project plan progress against contractual milestones
  • Monitor project resources and effectively manage resources to ensure successful project delivery
  • Communicate with and manage correspondence from service delivery partners
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and working groups to achieve contractual milestones according to the project timeline
  • Attend key stakeholder meetings, internal and external, and act as secretariat
  • Identify issues that may contribute to project timeline delays and report to Project Steering Group
  • Ensuring that project outcomes are sustainable and lead to long-term benefits for the community, beyond the funding period.
  • Undertake other relevant duties as directed

Financial and resource management / administration

  • Maintain appropriate resource allocation, and effective management and administrative practices, in accordance with organisational policies, processes and delegations of FPAA

Selection Criteria

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field e.g. health promotion, public health, health education or relevant field with at least 3 years’ experience working in health, education and community services or similar field

Essential knowledge and skills:

  • A commitment to the vision and values of FPAA
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in development, implementation, and research and evaluation of projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, written and oral communication skills including community education, consumer engagement, advocacy, partnership development and networking
  • Proven planning, time management and organisational skills
  • Highly proficient IT skills, experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and confidence using cloud-based software
  • Highly organised, efficient and reliable with proven ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Relevant knowledge of current reproductive and sexual health care
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams remotely with minimal supervision.
    Other requirements
  • National Police Clearance - no older than 6 months from date of issue
  • Ability to travel regionally and interstate when required.
