The Freedom Hub (TFH) is a charity and an award winning social enterprise that aims to end modern slavery in Australia and help survivors rebuild their lives through our Survivor Schools. Our initiatives are funded by five social enterprises, including our ethical cafe, catering, retail and wholesale businesses, events venue, and business advisory services. Every dollar of profit supports survivors in their journey toward independence and dignity. We are Social Traders accredited and have a vision to expand nationally by 2034.
As our Social Enterprise Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s revenue growth and our many diversified income streams to ensure long-term financial sustainability. This role blends hospitality sales, leadership, relationship building, and operational execution to enhance TFH’s impact across Australia.
This is a 1- year contract with the opportunity to negotiate further for a career path and growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales and Revenue Growth Strategy
- Execute our Board's business growth strategy aligned with The Freedom Hub's mission and goals.
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue opportunities for growing revenue streams across our social enterprises.
- Create and implement financial growth plans, for our hospitality businesses (cafe, events, catering, retail) ensuring profitability and scalability.
2. Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
- Nurture relationships with corporate partners, donors, and ethical suppliers.
- Identify and secure collaborations that enhance revenue, such as ethical suppliers, retail lines, licensing, or product & service expansion.
- Represent The Freedom Hub at industry events, forums, and networking opportunities to increase visibility and secure opportunities.
3. Revenue Stream Diversification
- Identify untapped markets for revenue growth within ethical and sustainable frameworks.
- Evaluate the viability of emerging opportunities, new product offerings, or digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Events teams to maximise revenue from existing streams, such as TFH Cafe, catering, retail operations.
4. Financial and Performance Management
- Set, track, and report on revenue targets and KPIs.
- Manage budgets for our hospitality businesses ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Provide data-driven insights and forecasts to inform strategic decision-making
5. Team Collaboration
- Lead your internal teams and managers, including café, events, retail, and venue operations, to align business growth & development.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to teams involved in revenue-related projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Proven experience building social enterprise hospitality teams
- Proven experience in business development, sales, or revenue management, ideally within a social enterprise or not-for-profit setting.
- Strong track record with evidence of achieving financial growth and diversifying revenue streams.
- Strong team leadership skills to ensure a human rights and caring culture.
- Ability to write, cost out and develop menus ensuring profitability.
- Exceptional communication including external corporate partnerships.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities.
- Financial acumen, including budget management and forecasting.
- Passion for social justice and alignment with The Freedom Hub’s mission and values. (see below)
Desirable:
- Experience working in ethical business practices
- Knowledge of Australian funding landscapes, including philanthropy, grants and sponsorships.
- Experience in managing hospitality, retail, catering, and events-based revenue models.
- An understanding of global and local anti-modern slavery-related initiatives.
