The Marketing Officer role can be based in any of these locations.
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Officer on a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension.
Working as part of a busy and dynamic Communications and Marketing team and reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Marketing Officer will support the development and delivery of the FSU’s marketing and engagement strategy to grow our brand and recruit new members and activists to the FSU.
You will be a Marketing superstar – someone who is passionate about market research and applying analysis and insights into actionable strategies. The role has the exciting freedom to be driven by data, to test and trial alternative strategies to improve member acquisition and experience across any and all touchpoints, including email, social media, website and more.
You will have proven experience in digital marketing and advertising with a knack for developing engaging, high-quality content to suit various marketing channels. The ability to deliver on projects and tasks in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation and delivery of a marketing and engagement strategy that drives meaningful engagement and brand awareness, while supporting the FSU's strategic goals and objectives.
- Lead marketing projects and initiatives to drive engagement and membership conversion among our target audiences, including marketing automation, search engine marketing and more.
- Conduct in-depth market research to understand and analyse emerging trends, audience needs and industry/market changes.
- Monitor, analyse and report on the performance metrics of our marketing campaigns, using data-driven insights to provide actionable recommendations to inform future strategies and growth.
- Consistently measure and analyse audience feedback and sentiment to ensure our services continue to meet the changing needs of our target audiences and drive membership growth.
- Collaborate with Communications and Marketing team members to develop and produce high quality content for marketing collateral including print and online promotional material.
- Contribute content to and assist in managing digital marketing channels (including website, social media and online advertising) to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
- Engage with staff across the organisation to identify opportunities and strategies that drive membership growth and engagement across digital channels.
- Maintain and monitor brand consistency across all marketing campaigns, strategies and channels.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to seek and grow sponsorship and partnership opportunities and cross collaboration.
- Undertake general communications and marketing tasks where required or as directed by the Communications and Marketing Manager, including content creation for emails and newsletters, story writing, updating and maintaining the FSU website, social media and more.
Selection criteria
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in marketing or a related discipline, and/or equivalent demonstrated experience in a related field:
- 5+ years of working experience in marketing, with proven experience in digital marketing and advertising, and in executing sound marketing plans and projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail – a proficient communicator with a knack for writing engaging content to suit various channels including website, social media, email, search, print advertising and more.
- Demonstrated proficiency in marketing fundamentals, brand management, market analysis and trends in digital marketing.
- Strong ability to analyse data and drive actionable insights and strategies to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
- Strong proficiency in understanding and using marketing software and tools, including CRM systems, analytic platforms and marketing automation tools.
- Experience with online marketing channels including a sound understanding of social media platforms.
- Sound understanding of technical aspects of marketing, with the ability to advise stakeholders at a technical level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with social media platforms and using social media tools such as Facebook Ads Manager, Canva, Creative Studio and more.
- Demonstrated experience using video editing tools such as Capcut or Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Demonstrated knowledge of using graphic design software such as InDesign, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
- Demonstrated experience in using content management systems to create and manage websites, and in developing web content.
- Proven track record in building and managing relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to be self-motivated, responsive and flexible in an environment with time pressures and multiple priorities.
- A commitment to social justice and union values and a passion for making a difference to workers’ lives.
Desirable
- Experience with using the Salesforce CRM.
- Experience working for a trade union or similar not-for-profit organisation.
Salary
The salary for this role is $94,102 with rostered days off. The FSU also offers other excellent working conditions including employer superannuation contributions of 15%. The FSU is an equal opportunity employer.
