about the opportunity

Future Group is not your traditional financial services company – we're a collective of super funds and services committed to changing our planet now for a better tomorrow. When you join us, you’ll become part of a team united by a clear and important mission: to lead the investment movement by advocating and campaigning for a future worth retiring into.

We are looking for someone to join our purpose-led high-growth scale up and if you're up for the challenge, this role will put you right in the thick of supporting Future Group's strategy process, monitoring business performance, and helping us achieve our strategic objectives. As a Strategy Manager, you'll work closely with the senior leadership team to develop and implement corporate and business-unit strategies, support key projects, and provide insights to drive our growth and success.

Your north star: Support Future Group’s strategy process and support our team to execute key projects. You will be instrumental in driving change and making a meaningful impact on the organisation and the industry as a whole.

And the best bit, you’ll get to work with some fantastic work mates. Get ready to work with some amazing colleagues who are passionate, innovative, and fully committed to our purpose. Our team thrives on collaboration, support, and driving positive change. At Future Group, we value diversity, creativity, and excellence in everything we do.

We strongly encourage applications from people with diverse lived experience and identities, as the problems we face are complex, and the more diverse our team is, the better our solutions become. We are a team that is all about building a strong workplace culture, that's not only diverse, but competent. We are always learning and doing better together, and holding ourselves to account on our values.

Future Group values lived experience and we encourage applications from people with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, who have caring responsibilities, from culturally and racially marginalised groups, people with disability, people who experience ageism, LGBTQIA+ people, and people who experience social exclusion because of their social class.

If you require any adjustments throughout the recruitment process, please reach out to our talent team at [email protected]. We want to ensure our recruitment process is equitable for all, and we’ll happily make any reasonable adjustments where required.

You’ll love this job if:

  • You find superannuation opaque and frustrating, if you had the chance to revolutionise the industry to be better for people, you would
  • You love sharing your ideas and seeing what happens. At this scale-up, you're not just a small fish in a big pond. Your contributions have a direct influence on our impact and how we work
  • You like to be kept on your toes - change is inevitable here. You like to tackle new challenges, and maybe even discover talents you never knew you had
  • We're looking for someone with excellent communication, analytical thinking, stakeholder management, adaptability, strategic thinking, project management, and collaborative skills. You'll need to communicate clearly, think critically, and manage stakeholders effectively, while also being adaptable and strategic. Experience in project management and the ability to work well in cross-functional teams are also essential.
  • In addition to the above skills, being proactive, resilient, creative, a team player, and having excellent time management skills are essential. We need someone who can take the initiative, overcome obstacles, and contribute to a positive team environment. Alignment with our company's values, including diversity, creativity, and excellence in everything we do, is key.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Believes in Future Group’s mission and has a passion for moving Australia’s money out of fossil-fuels and into renewable energy
  • Believes in using the power of money to build a sustainable and equitable world
  • We're searching for a Strategy Manager with a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business, or Law, along with 3-5 years of experience in Consulting or Financial Services/Investment Management.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience in project management and/or delivering strategic projects. They should also have a good understanding of business strategy and priorities. Ideally, they should have previous experience working in a fast-growing scale-up business (i.e., Series B+) and within regulated industries.
  • They will need to be an expert at using PowerPoint to create slide decks that really get the message across, and should be pretty comfortable using Excel. They need to be able to dig into data and research, then explain their findings to different groups of people.
  • It's also essential they have experience managing stakeholders at the Senior Leadership Team level, are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and are good at problem-solving. Being able to apply strategic frameworks and structured problem-solving techniques is also pretty important.

Some nice-to-haves but are not essential are:

  • Experience in engaging with various business streams to set their strategic goals.
  • Proficiency in determining strategies for presenting data and analysis in a manner that facilitates actionable insights for the business.
  • Familiarity with regulated industries.

As the Strategy Manager you will:

  • Shape corporate and business unit strategies, ensuring alignment with organisational vision and priorities.
  • Develop the annual Business Plan and facilitate strategy sessions with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Lead strategic projects by creating materials and collateral that support their alignment with overall strategy.

  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and research on topics such as competitor strategies and market trends.
  • Support decision-making processes by offering structured analysis and problem-solving assistance.

Don’t tick all the boxes?- that’s okay, we like thinking outside the box anyway. We value skills, passion and who you are over what you’ve done or where you’ve studied. So if this job strikes a chord, we want to hear from you!

Why would you enjoy working at Future Group?
