Garnduwa Amboorny Wirnan (Garnduwa) is the Kimberley’s leading Aboriginal Sport & Recreation organisation. We drive change in remote communities, working side by side with community members to improve lives, create overall wellbeing and promote healthy and happy lifestyles.

About the Role 

As the Deputy CEO, you will be providing leadership and direction to our management team whilst overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organisation. The Deputy CEO position plays an important role in the continued respect for culture and tradition, as well as striving for continuous improvement and ensuring we are impacting our communities consistently and positively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, advice, support and undertake reporting to the CEO on day-to-day operations of Garnduwa;
  • Represent Garnduwa at key meetings at the community, Regional, State and National level;
  • Lobby Government, funding bodies and other relevant organisations and develop partnerships and networks to promote the aims of Garnduwa;
  • Identify strategic opportunities that support the ongoing financial sustainability of the organisation and drive implementation;
  • Provide organisational leadership on stakeholder engagement to support program delivery;
  • Plan, manage and coordinate the implementation of specific projects within Garnduwa;
  • Provide leadership to the Management Team in operational planning, budgeting, financial and non-financial reporting;
  • In consultation with the CEO and members of the Management Team, develop and implement policies and practices for the efficient running of the organisation;
  • Create an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling Garnduwa’s mission, vision, and values;
  • Ensure organisational effective management and reporting on the health and safety of the workplace;
  • Ensure that the organisation complies with the statutory requirements of all applicable Commonwealth and State legislation and with the conditions imposed on grant funds by funding bodies; and
  • Provide leadership on risk management and organisational compliance with all internal Garnduwa policies and procedures.

What Garnduwa is Looking For:

  • Knowledge of the Kimberley and remote communities located within the region and, proven ability to provide successful leadership on remote program delivery.
  • Proven well-developed understanding and working knowledge of community development initiatives and the utilisation of sports, art and culture in community capacity building.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organisational and management skills in an organisational leadership role.
  • Experience in risk management & WH&S.

In recognition of your commitment and hard work, you will be offered an attractive employment salary between $150 000 and $170 000 plus super and salary sacrificing!
