The Role

The important role of Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for organising and executing GAWS' volunteer programs aligned with the organisation's values and mission. The position oversees all recruitment, training and outreach campaign efforts while being responsible for induction programs for new staff and volunteers and being the main contact for school and visiting groups. Our volunteers are deployed across programs in our Moolap site and our Op Shops on Vines Road and Pakington Street.

We are looking for a committed team member with the ability to effectively build relationship with all our stakeholders. The role has competing priorities, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate that they apply sound judgement to manage operational matters in a timely manner.

The position is permanent part time three (3) days a week with the ability to work flexibly. Remuneration of the successful candidate will depend on relevant experience. Organisational induction, ongoing training and learning programs are available to support personal and career development.

Experience & Skills

To be considered for this position you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration or a related field and/or significant equivalent experience
  • Experience in supervising and leading teams, including in managing quality standards and enforcing accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to actively listen to others and positively contribute towards a productive team environment
  • Strong experience in recruitment, development of policies and training design and delivery
  • Excellent customer service skills that drive your decision-making process

Successful experience working in a not-for-profit environment with limited resources would be highly regarded.

The successful applicant for this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment Police Check and provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia.
