<p><a href="https://www.gayaadhuwi.org.au/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia</a> is the national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, and suicide prevention. As a community-controlled organisation, it is governed and controlled by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experts and peak bodies, working in these areas to promote collective excellence in mental health care.</p>
<p>Established in 2020, on the back of extensive work of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership in Mental Health, our work is guided by the tenets of the Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Declaration.</p>
<p>Gayaa Dhuwi works with its members, networks, and partners to achieve the highest attainable standard of social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, and suicide prevention outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.</p>
<p>Our membership includes Australian Indigenous Doctors Association, Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association, Indigenous Allied Health Australia, and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation. These Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peak bodies collectively represent nearly 300 organisations and more than 2,000 individuals.</p>
<p>Through our Councils and Collaborative Networks, we promote collective excellence by enabling Gayaa Dhuwi to be an inclusive, representative voice, leader, and advocate for system-wide change.</p>

<h3>About the Role</h3>
<p>The Executive Officer provides high-level administrative, executive, and governance support to the CEO and the executive leadership team. This role is pivotal in facilitating the strategic and operational effectiveness of our leadership, ensuring that our organisation&rsquo;s goals and objectives are met with excellence.</p>
<h3>About You</h3>
<p><strong>We are seeking motivated and committed people with:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities and within the not-for-profit sector.</li>
<li>Tertiary qualifications in health and/or relevant professional experience.</li>
<li>Demonstrated relevant experience developing and implementing strategies that produce tangible and measurable outcomes.</li>
<li>Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills, with proven ability to work under pressure.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li><strong>Executive Support: </strong>Provide support to the CEO by handling information requests, conducting research, and preparing reports. Manage the CEO's calendar, meetings, travel, correspondence and assist with office operations.</li>
<li><strong>Governance Support: </strong>Oversee the organisation's governance protocols and activities, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Coordinate board meetings, including the preparation of agendas, minutes, and supporting documents. Maintain governance records and monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations.</li>
<li><strong>Communication: </strong>Serve as the primary point of communication between the CEO&rsquo;s office and internal teams, maintaining creditability, trust, and support with the executive leadership team. Manage the flow of critical information to and from the CEO.</li>
<li><strong>Project Management: </strong>Lead and manage special projects, ensuring project align with organisational objectives and are completed within established timelines. Act as a project liaison among various teams and stakeholders.</li>
<li><strong>Stakeholder Engagement:</strong> Engage with partners, government, and stakeholders through meetings and communications.</li>
<li><strong>Performance Monitoring and Reporting: </strong>Track and report team performance against objectives and key performance indicators, providing analysis to the CEO.</li>
<li><strong>Leadership and Team Development:</strong> Support the professional development of the secretariat by providing, leadership, coaching, and guidance, with a focus on enhancing understanding and implementation of best practices. Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and commitment to excellence.</li>
