About the JCTS

Joint Colleges Training Services Pty Ltd (JCTS) is a joint venture between the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). JCTS facilitates shared GP training activities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health initiatives, cultural education, mentorship, and registrar housing in remote communities.

About the opportunity

Reporting to our Regional Manager, Queensland, you’ll work in partnership with Medical Educators of a local GP Training region to assist with developing and delivering Cultural Awareness Training to registrars, supervisors and practice team members. Key to your success will be your ability to collaborate with and develop strong working relationships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health program team and the community.

As one of our Cultural Educators, you’ll also:

  • Build strong working relationships and negotiate with key stakeholders to ensure region-wide support.
  • Lead the design and delivery of Cultural Awareness, Safety Training projects and Workshops.
  • Represent JCTS in relevant stakeholder committees, forums, and meetings, actively participating in discussions.
  • Support GP Registrars’ training in Aboriginal Medical Services, offering education, mentoring, and feedback during clinical visits.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong personal responsibility, grounded cultural identity, and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of regional community, traditional customs, and contemporary practices, including men’s business.
  • Ability to engage and educate diverse audiences with sensitivity, empathy, and respect for cultural differences.
  • Experience in designing and delivering Cultural Awareness and Safety Training, including developing presentations and small group discussions.
