  • This role is SCHADS 4.1 ($85,530.37 + super + salary packaging) pro rata.
  • This is a Part-time (0.6) 12-month fixed term contract role.

We are seeking a Residential Support Worker to join our Client and Residency Management team. This position is supports the refuge family violence case managers to implement goals and meet their safety and stabilisation needs. The Residential Support Worker has the primary responsibility to assist in the coordination and delivery of practical support and resources for women and children in refuge accommodation, experiencing family violence and trauma. The role also requires identifying community resources and linking clients to community-based activities and services. As a Residential Support worker you will be assisting and providing support to victim survivors in crisis, this includes clients in refuge, CAPs and THMs.

Please be advised experience working within a residential/refuge/complex care setting is essential. The roster for this role is 24 hours 7 days a week, you will be expected to do sleepover shifts. You must be available to work weekends, sleepovers and day shifts. Sleepover shifts 4:30pm – 9am, Day shifts 8:30am- 4:30pm.

Reporting to the Refuge Team Leader, the responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing a safe, trauma informed and strength based practice that empowers all residents residing within the refuge and other crisis accommodation.
  • Facilitating site induction of new clients.
  • Providing an after-hours response to the women and children onsite as required.
  • Liaising with case workers regarding safety concerns or risk issues identified or reported.
  • Prioritise safety and welfare of clients and staff while swiftly managing emergencies and incidents at the refuge site.
  • Providing domestic duties assistance for clients (e.g. Shopping assistance, preparation of units and assisting with transportation to appointments.)
  • Facilitating recreational activities at Refuge and other crisis accommodation, including creating activity proposals, risk assessments and planning.
  • Managing the duty desk and proving practical support to client during the day, this also includes services visiting sites.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, welfare or related field with a degree qualification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging & working with victim survivors with complex support needs including AOD, mental health, out of home care and adolescent violence.
  • Demonstrated capacity to time manage within a crisis setting whiles maintaining required documentation and IT systems to DHHS and organisational standards.
  • A current Victorian drivers licence.
