Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, After Hours

We are seeking a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (After Hours) to step into our Crisis Response and Brief Interventions Team! This role is available on an ongoing part-time basis ranging from a SCHADS Level 5 ($97,849.05 - $102, 278.01) + superannuation + $15,990 salary sacrificing.

The Crisis Response and Brief Interventions Family Violence Program offers a specialist face-to-face response to victim survivors and their children who have recently experienced family violence and are being accommodated in the Western Metropolitan or Brimbank Melton regions. The service is accessible 7 days per week 24-hours per day on weekends and public holidays.

This role is available on an ongoing part-time basis. As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (After Hours), you will work with victim survivors in emergency accommodation to meet their immediate crisis needs outside of ordinary business hours.

You will need to be available each week for the below shift times:

  • Thursday (4:30pm-9:30pm)
  • Saturday (12pm-8pm)

And fortnightly:

  • Sunday (12pm-8pm)

*please note all shifts carry an overnight on call component

You will also need to be available to attend a fortnightly online team meeting Wednesday (3:30pm-5pm)

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supporting clients in emergency accommodation in relation to immediate needs including: safety planning, risk management, provision of material aid, and the provision of psychosocial/emotional support.
  • Liaising with Emergency Accommodation Providers outside of business hours to promote the safety and wellbeing of victim survivors and the ongoing relationship with key moteliers.
  • Providing crisis support and advocacy for victim / survivors (inc. children and young people) experiencing family violence.
  • Undertaking comprehensive risk assessment using the tools contained within the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM).
  • Monitoring and assessing risk to own safety and be diligent in reporting any threats to personal safety according to GenWest policies and procedures.
  • Diligently documenting case notes and complete reports in accordance with best practice and GenWest standards.

Suitable candidates will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work or related discipline as per the Minimum Mandatory Qualifications.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of theoretical models and frameworks relevant to family violence and sexual assault.
  • Experience effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Strong ability to exercise initiative and judgement in complex situations.
