the role

Giant Steps Melbourne is looking for a senior, strategic, and independent thinker to help deliver exciting development projects and secure an exciting future for our very special community. Working with the Principal of Giant Steps Melbourne and within the Giant Steps fundraising team and reporting directly to the Administrative Director of Giant Steps, the Relationship Manager will be responsible for successfully securing income from grants, philanthropic trusts, foundations, and prescribed public funds by identifying opportunities, igniting relationships, and managing funding applications and submissions. The primary focus will be on building relationships to increase corporate fundraising and securing donations from philanthropic foundations, trusts and individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Management: Conduct prospect research, qualify opportunities, and manage end-to-end proposal submissions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key external and internal stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives including managing relationships with current and future parents to build parent engagement.
  • Administration: Maintain updated records and provide regular reporting on activities.
  • Reporting: Attend periodic meetings and present to the Board of Directors.
  • Identify new fundraising initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High Emotional Intelligence: A professional attitude and a strong team focus with the ability to communicate effectively and build sustained and positive relationships with stakeholders both within and external to the organisation.
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in relationship building and communication.
  • Negotiating and Networking Skills: Experience in negotiating and networking with high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and senior executives.
  • Grant Writing: Demonstrated experience in writing successful applications, grants, or submissions.
  • Business Development Experience: Background in business development, relationship management, fundraising, marketing, sales, or communications.
  • Fundraising Knowledge: Knowledge of fundraising standards, principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Community Focus: A genuine desire to connect with and support our very special community.

Location

This exciting role is based at our Kew Campus.
