Gippsland Disability Advocacy is a community-based organisation that is state and federally funded to provide information, advocacy support and referral to specialist services as may be appropriate.
GDA provides outreach support to people with disabilities across the six regional Local Government Areas of Gippsland.
GDA has a demonstrated commitment to the principles of access and equity, with a firm ongoing commitment to the principles of current best practise to provide high quality advocacy support to clients.
Our mission is to advocate, promote, and be responsive to the welfare, rights, and interests of people with disabilities, and to build a more inclusive community.
Disability Advocate – East Gippsland/Bairnsdale (.6 - .8 – Fixed Term).
The position of Disability Advocate will be responsible for assisting people with disability to resolve issues through effective individual or systemic advocacy support. The role will also focus on supporting the advocacy needs of specific diverse groups including but not limited to Aboriginal and Cultural Linguistic Diverse people with disabilities. A sound knowledge of the relevant disability acts including disability advocacy principles is imperative.
