About the Role
Are you an experienced Designer with a passion for supporting social change?
The Give Where You Live Foundation is seeking a Design and Innovation Lead to join our Social Impact Team and lead the Foundation’s social innovation lab (Social Lab).
Reporting to the Head of Social Impact, you will support social change in our region through facilitating design, co-design and social innovation processes with community and stakeholders and support the implementation and testing of new ideas to address social challenges impacting equity.
Responsibilities
Development, delivery and leadership:
- Develop, coordinate and lead the Social Lab, including the approaches, methods and tools used.
- Apply your stakeholder engagement and group facilitation skills to bring community and multi-sectoral stakeholders together to collaboratively explore community strengths and visions for a more equitable region, social challenges and their root causes, and a range of ideas to trial to create social change.
- Enable communities to lead their own change through nurturing local design and innovation capability and leadership.
- Actively include and engage of three fundamental perspectives - the unique role that our First Nations people hold within our community, people with lived experience of the issue and research and evidence of what is working and what is not.
Strategic relationships and stakeholder management:
- Develop, maintain and nurture key relationships whilst exploring ways to accelerate impact, social and economic change in the G21 region.
- Create environments for creativity, collaboration and impact.
- Build the conditions and culture for relationships, trust, innovation and social change to occur.
- Represent the Foundation, as required, at key events.
Operations and program management:
- Day to day management of the Social Lab.
- Identify opportunities and develop value propositions to support business development and impact goals of the Social Lab.
- Ensure cross-cutting social issues and strategic lenses are embedded in process and practice.

Key Selection Criteria
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Design, or equivalent training
- Experience: Design and social innovation work experience, using the approaches, methods and processes of social design, design thinking, co-design, human centred design and systems change.
- Highly desired: experience in engaging people with lived experience in design processes and working with community organisations; place and asset-based community development; community engagement to increase local and inclusive community participation, democratic processes and ownership in change initiatives.
- Skills: Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills, curiosity, creativity, excellent communication and strong organisational skills.
- Adaptability: Ability to work independently, take initiative and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
