Position Summary

We are looking for a Quality & Safety Lead to ensure that GMI meets all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role is crucial for maintaining our compliance standards and managing risk effectively. You’ll be responsible for monitoring compliance, conducting internal audits, and implementing improvements to ensure our practices align with legal, contractual and organisational requirements, alongside the new regulatory requirements of the Social Services Regulator.

This is a 0.6 FTE position for a 7-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Monitoring: Perform regular internal audits to ensure adherence to policies and regulations; stay updated on relevant laws.
  • Policy Management: Develop, implement, and update compliance policies; ensure staff follow them.
  • Risk Management: Identify compliance risks, create mitigation strategies, and suggest improvements.
  • Training and Support: Train staff on compliance issues and provide guidance.
  • Reporting: Maintain records of audits and incidents; report compliance status to managers and stakeholders.
  • Incident Management: Investigate compliance breaches, take corrective actions, and coordinate with legal bodies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements and keep up with best practices.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Relevant qualification in Compliance, Quality & Risk or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a compliance role, ideally within a community-based or social services context.
  • Strong understanding of compliance laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems proactively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and alignment with our intersectional feminist, strength-based, and trauma-informed practice framework.
