Role Purpose

The Learning Support Assistant is part of Waranara School team. Waranara School is an independent Special Assistant school that has been registered and accredited by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). The Learning Support Assistant provides day-to-day learning support to the school’s students as well as one on literacy and numeracy intervention to their educational needs to achieve high school qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning support students.
  • Implementing YARC testing.
  • Working closely with the Deputy principal and regularly liaising with the teaching and wellbeing staff at Waranara School.
  • Working in an integrated way with other workers at Good Shepherd, community stakeholders and partners to
  • ensure the individual needs of students are met.

About you

  • Qualifications in teaching assistant, learning support or education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Child Protection policy and practice frameworks and legislation.
  • Effective interpersonal, time management, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing written reports, maintaining records, including case notes and reporting.
  • Understanding of learning disabilities and how to support students.
