Role Purpose

The Loan Administration Officer plays a crucial role in delivering community finance products and services, particularly No Interest Loans (NILs), to clients in need. Embracing diversity and inclusion, the role aims to enhance the wellbeing and social inclusion of disadvantaged individuals on low incomes. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Loan Administration Officer ensures a person-centered approach, linking clients with holistic support services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute NILs loan processes in alignment with established policies and training protocols.
  • Manage loan lifecycle activities such as issuing contracts, setting up repayment plans, facilitating loan drawdown, disbursements, payment setups, variations, and potential write-offs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication throughout their loan journey via various channels.
  • Liaise with suppliers through diverse communication channels to confirm payment details and notify them about expected payments on behalf of clients from Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand (GSANZ).
  • Review Currently Not Paying (CNP) loans, taking necessary follow-up actions in collaboration with managers or team leaders and reporting on CNP status.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliation activities and uphold data integrity in the database.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Experience with loans processing and supporting clients to understand options and obligations; able to respond to all client enquiries and ensure access to support such as interpreters where needed.
  2. Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.
  3. Demonstrated system and computer literacy skills, can use spreadsheets, databases and word processing applications and review and verify data.
  4. Ability to work under pressure through effective planning and prioritising and being flexible/ adaptive to change.
  5. Well-developed verbal and written skills with the ability to build effective and trusting relationships.
  6. The capacity and commitment to work in alignment with the values of Good Shepherd and understand the issue of financial exclusion in Australia

About You

  • Certificate or Diploma in Community Services desirable or experience in a similar role
  • Experience with loans systems or similar platforms
  • Well-developed consultation and collaboration skills and be able to work in complex work environments
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and regulations specific to financial and credit service
  • Demonstrated capacity to support people who are impacted by trauma and able to work in a culturally sensitive way with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and Aboriginal families.
