Established on 1 December 2020, the Authority manages, protects, rehabilitates and fosters resilience of the natural, cultural and heritage values of coastal Crown land and marine waters along the Great Ocean Road.

Corporate Services - Finance

Corporate Services and CFO Directorate provides management, advice, and service to the whole organisation in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems, Information Management, Assets, Risk, Compliance and Governance. This position is in the Finance Team within Corporate Services.

The Finance team delivers the following key functions to the Authority; reporting (financial and management reports), planning & analytics (budgeting/forecasting/financial modelling), payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for, in consultation with the Finance Manager, preparation of monthly financials, management reports, annual budgets and annual financial statements, as well as overseeing the payroll, revenue and accounts receivable functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation of monthly financials and management reports, with insightful commentary.
  • Preparation of annual budgets and regular forecasts, along with financial modelling and analytics support.
  • Financial compliance, including preparation of annual financial statements, BAS and FBT returns.
  • Overseeing the payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate pay run, as well as compliance and reconciliations.
  • Overseeing the revenue and receivables function, ensuring accurate recognition of revenue and timely debtor invoicing/repayments.
  • Leadership and professional development of direct reports.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline.
  • Charted Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum or 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in people management in a high performing team with the ability to support, train and develop others.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (ELMO preferred).
  • Proficiency in financial planning processes e.g., budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in the management of payroll and accounts receivable functions.
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage financial records with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft office suite, including advanced Excel skills.
