About us

headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. headspace Tuggeranong is a new youth health service that opened earlier this year. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Tuggeranong will work to improve health, social and vocational/educational outcomes for young people.

The Clinical Lead is a key leadership position within headspace Tuggeranong, providing oversight for the coordination and delivery of clinical services and ensuring that day-to-day clinical work is carried out to the highest standard to effectively meet the needs of young people and their families.

About the position

The Clinical Lead will oversee and develop clinical pathways and systems in conjunction with the Service Manager; provide clinical support, and guidance to a multi-disciplinary team and contractors. They will ensure that the clinical team receives appropriate supervision based on their professional backgrounds, facilitate clinical and caseload reviews and actively manage referrals and demand for clinical services. The Clinical Lead will carry a caseload and provide complex clinical assessments. The role requires specific and thorough knowledge of clinical and community mental health approaches, as well as a comprehensive understanding of primary, secondary and tertiary mental health services and best practice guidelines.

This position is based in Canberra at headspace Tuggeranong in Greenway and offered as a fixed-term contract. The position is full time, although we are happy to consider variations for the right candidate. Relocation benefits may be available. What you’ll need

  • Current full AHPRA registration as a clinical psychologist, registered psychologist, or occupational therapist (accredited with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health), or accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker.
  • Advanced clinical skills including clinical triage, assessment, delivery of evidence based, focussed psychological therapies and support of young people at risk.
  • Demonstrated skills in clinical supervision and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team.
