The Central Coast Greens (CCG) are seeking a Campaign Assistant to help the group deliver a successful campaign in the upcoming 2023 state election (polling date 25 March 2023).

This is a part-time temporary position based on a fixed-term contract of approximately 15-20 hours per week, to be negotiated. More hours may be possible, subject to budget and availability.

The Campaign Assistant will provide support to:

  • The Campaign Co-ordinator and Volunteer Co-ordinator by delivering on assigned tasks,
  • The Campaign Committee in delivering on its campaign goals and
  • The Candidates for the electorates of Gosford, Terrigal, The Entrance and Wyong

role responsibilities

All tasks and activities will be delivered in line with the Greens NSW and Central Coast Greens non-electoral campaign goals:

  1. Communicate our vision for a fairer, greener society, raising awareness that another world is possible
  2. Run a principled progressive and feminist campaign
  3. Ensure the well-being of campaign participants (volunteers, staff, candidates, supporters) through broader and deeper capacity-building efforts
  4. Increase membership and volunteer numbers and participation, activism
  5. Focus on young people & their issues to bring them into our campaign as members and activists to build the ongoing movement for change
  6. Expand our supporters, activists and networks in CALD communities and in other minority communities, especially disabled people, LGBTIQ+ and First Nations
  7. Build stronger alliances with the union movement

Relationship to others:

  • The Campaign Assistant is supervised by, and reports to the Campaign Co-ordinator Kate da Costa
  • The Campaign Assistant’s work plan is developed by the Volunteer Co-ordinator Imogen da Silva and the Campaign Co-ordinator
  • For HR and payroll purposes, the Campaign Assistant reports to the State Operations Manager and is employed by Greens NSW.

Location, working hours and equipment:

As CCG does not have a campaign office, the campaign assistant will work from home or another location agreed to by the CCG campaign co-ordinator. The position may involve some weekend and out-of-hours work to attend and report to campaign committee meetings as required, and to assist at events.

The campaign assistant should work 2 to 3 days a week, but these hours are flexible by arrangement with the CCG Campaign co-ordinator.

The successful applicant should have a functioning laptop and phone, but if not, arrangements can be made. Expense claims for internet and phone will be covered, subject to the Campaign Coordinators approval.

Conditions of employment:

The successful candidate will be employed by The Greens NSW. The Greens NSW is an equal opportunity employer. Pay and conditions are based on the current Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement, at Admin Step 2 ($43.92 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation).
