<h3>THE OPPORTUNITY:</h3>
<p>This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a high standard of governance to ensure decisions are aligned with the Gumala Foundation&rsquo;s strategic plan and that the Corporation remains compliant with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.</p>
<p>The Governance Manager is a trusted partner providing governance and compliance advice to the Board and executive leadership team; and ensures the efficient and effective functioning of the Board, its committees and those of other entities for which GAC provides governance support services.</p>
<p>Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Facilitating governance reporting and submission requirements; and reporting to the GAC Board on good governance efforts.</li>
<li>Undertaking regular internal compliance audits.</li>
<li>Maintaining a framework for the systematic review of governance documentation, policies and processes.</li>
<li>Undertaking detailed research and preparing reports for consideration by the EO and Board on a range of strategic issues.</li>
<li>Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team and Audit and Risk Committee on compliance with corporate responsibilities.</li>
<li>Overseeing the Gumala Foundation review process.</li>
<li>Managing the induction process for all new Directors.</li>
<li>Directing and supporting a small team</li>
<li>Liaising with stakeholders including lawyers, anthropologists and traditional owner members</li>
</ul>
<p>This position is based in East Perth with occasional travel to the Pilbara and is available in the new year for an initial 12-month term.</p>
<h3>ABOUT YOU:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or extensive knowledge, skills and experience in a similar position &ndash; preferably within an Aboriginal Corporation.</li>
<li>Demonstrated management and leadership at a senior level with the ability to motivate and coach team members.</li>
<li>Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Understanding of the CATSI Act</li>
<li>High attention to detail</li>
<li>Excellent organisational skills and ability to effectively prioritise work and balance competing demands.</li>
<li>Cultural sensitivity with a demonstrated understanding of and alignment with Aboriginal cultural values</li>
<li>High-level research and report-writing skills</li>
<li>Ability to read, research and assimilate complex information in the form of legislation and guidelines.</li>
